The local political bosses have spoken

If you are a democrat and you want to run for AD-13, it is time to hire 3AM Communications. 3AM communications is run by two dudes in San Joaquin County that are Republicans, one of whom sits on the San Joaquin County Republican Party Central Committee.

3AM Communications is all over the reports of Democrat San Joaquin County Supervisor Kathy Miller. See 2014 here and see 2018 here see the $25,000 win bonus from the democrat to 3AM on the third page. (Note, I only linked one report from each cycle but they are all over all of them) Now Miller is running for Assembly to replace extreme left-wing homosexual activist Susan Eggman who is jumping to SD05. Miler’s two opponents are largely unfunded, but 3AM Communications was not able to get a Republican on the AD13 Ballot to help Miller clear out the field in March. Thus, Miller will be in a D vs D runoff where she is still heavily favored. It is the opinion of this blogger that any would be GOP Challenger realized that they would be volunteering to get used and not supported as Miller was to be the beneficiary of a Rep joining the AD-13 race. (AD-XX = California’s XX Assembly District)

CA-09 Candidate Tony Amador is a client (indirectly) of 3AM Communications. (CA-XX = California’s XX Congressional District)

CA-10 Candidate Marla Livengood is a client of 3AM Communications.

Both were endorsed by the San Joaquin GOP over other Republicans.

But not Republican Supervisor Tom Patti who is the only Republican in his race. Is that because Democrat Elbert Holman is running against him and happens to list 3AM Communications as his consultant? 1/6/2020 marked Tom Patti being denied an endorsement for the second time by the San Joaquin GOP.

What happened? The principal of 3AM Communications who is a member of the SJGOP Central Committee suggested a “Closed Session”. This had the effect of kicking all the candidates and staff out of the deliberation. It is also the experience of this blogger seeing closed sessions before in groups that they are done for one of two reasons: 1 people are being intimidated by outside influence or 2 the people that control the committee want to make sure it is easier to track how the members vote.

It did not stop CA-09 Candidate Tony Amador, 75 years of age from attempting to bully a 20-something staffer of Ted Howze. (The young lady is an elected member of that body and despite Mr. Amador’s wishes she was not expelled from the room) I like Tony Amador, (he probably does not like me very much anymore) but his allowing himself to be used as a tool and his behavior against a woman young enough to be his Grand-daughter is just moronic.

If you are scratching your head – allow your intrepid blogger to fill in more blanks.

3AM Communications helped Michael Tubbs (democrat) who is famous for paying gang bangers out of the City Treasury to not commit crime, (sound like the $100+ Billion in Cash to Iran?) over troubled Republican Anthony Silva. Silva was endorsed by the SJGOP at the time 3AM was helping elect Tubbs.

3AM Communications helped democrat Dan Wright win a City Council Seat in Stockton (click here for another financial report too) over Republican Steve Colangelo. Note, Colangelo was also endorsed by the SJGOP.

3AM Communications helped elect a democrat majority onto the Stockton City Council.

The difference was the $3MM worth of Charles Munger’s money that 3AM Communications and others helped direct in 2016 that changed the composition of the SJGOP Central Committee. So instead of pro-forma endorsements of Republicans, 3AM Communications now has the ability to block endorsements of Republicans at the SJGOP Central Committee – or worse get unfunded marginal candidates (Marla Livengood) endorsed for nationally targeted races.

It gets worse, 3AM Communications has also been a vendor to the California Republican Party. In essence, 3AM communications has been helping the democrats build their bench for legislative seats while the CAGOP has been getting shellacked at the polls.

Then, overlay that with these consultants purging through direct and indirect means of dissenters from two county committees to rig endorsements of hopeless candidates and you have to ask yourself if they are deliberately trying to lose.

Meet Scott Winn, he runs the San Joaquin GOP

It is a well-known fact that in order to get endorsed by the San Joaquin GOP you need to either be a candidate of Scott Winn’s or have paid tribute to Mr. Winn. This is one of those under the surface not-so-secret secrets in the political world. Four out of the 21 elected members of the current SJGOP Cent Com have the last name of Winn. If all the slots were filled the SJGOP would be 28 members.

I have had a variety of experiences with Scott Winn, I did not have an overly negative opinion of him until recently. He is an out of the closet trump-hater and he and most of his crew are supporting impeaching the President (Corey Uhden, Luis Alvarado and others). Winn has been part of the California Republican Leadership convention control operation for a long time and has also been one of the go-to consultants for CAGOP Leadership. Winn has been good buddies with David Stafford Reade for years – nothing wrong or illegal there – just a point about how inbred the California GOP world is.

Several years ago, I lit up Lee Neves, one of Scott Winn’s long time political opponents. I remember yukking it up with Scott at a subsequent convention with regard to it as relationships and alliances always shift in politics. Lee Neves’ worst offenses were dressing funny which made him an easy target to mess with. Many years ago, I wrote a series of blogs about Carlos Villapadua, N Allen Sawyer and the now Sheriff of San Joaquin County Pat Withrow. All are political opponents of Scott Winn’s. So, I have not always been at odds with Mr. Winn.

Marla Livengood lives in CA-09 and she got hammered by Jerry McDonkey in 2018. She grifted over to CA-10 and has next to no money raised and over half of her money raised is from family. Marla also happens to be a trump-hater who has attacked trump supporters in CA-10 as racists and happens to be the SJGOP’s Secretary.

In October, the SJGOP attempted to endorse Marla, and it failed. In November, Boss Winn cracked down on dissent and they reached 2/3.

Conservative Republican Tom Patti is running for re-election. He has an opponent who is not a Republican. Tom Patti was not endorsed. Scott Winn is running the campaign of Tom Patti’s non-republican opponent. See how that works? Elbert Holman, Scott Winn’s client is a former officeholder in San Joaquin County and is a democrat.

An unopposed GOP Candidate in CA-09 (vs McDonkey aka Jerry McNerney) was also snubbed. As your intrepid blogger investigates what happened with all the above endorsements, I am prepared for the worst if half the rumors about the Tammany Hall in Stockton are true.

Underscoring the absurdity of the entire CA-10 endorsement caper is this:

THUD is right.

As you recall, we wrote a post lambasting the Modesto Bee for their journalistic abortion attacking Ted Howze after people we believe were affiliated with Livengood ran a media drill trying to smear Howze. How quickly that went away.

Worse, Livengood spent some of her meager resources (likely paying for said media attack) and has only $22k left on hand.

We’ve also discussed Bob Elliott who was twisted out of the SD-05 Race in to the CA-10 Race by “leadership”. Elliott for his trouble was able to transfer most of the money he raised for his state senate campaign in to his Congressional. That said, he only raised about $20k in new money himself.

Howze? Love him or hate him, he has over $600k on hand, which places him atop the list of GOP contenders trying to re-take lost congressional seats. It looks like we have a contender on our hands folks.

I’ve long held that the Sacramento Bee and it’s red-headed stepchild in Modesto may as well be published by the Chinese embassy. They are reliably leftist and it is clear that the Modesto Bee is in the bag for Josh Harder.

Several days ago there was a sting operation netting the brother of a losing Stanislaus County Sheriff’s candidate. Everyone arrested in the operation, save one had a mugshot posted. The one exception had a photo of him where you could see almost his whole body. He was wearing a Republican’s campaign shirt…how convenient.

The Sheriff of San Joaquin County is Pat Withrow. I know Pat Withrow well. I helped defeat him in his first run for Sheriff in 2014. Pat Withrow’s campaign manager is none other than N Allen Sawyer, a man convicted of a felony for his part in the Baxter Dunn Scandal. (Note: Sawyer’s conviction was overturned years later on a technicality)

Withrow is also a reputed ally of the marijuana industry and was a democrat endorsed by the San Joaquin County Democrat Party in 2014. It appears he may have tried to hide as a NPP in 2018, but still was endorsed by the Central Labor Council in 2018.

Your intrepid Blogger fully well expects Withrow to endorse Josh Harder and is also of the opinion that the Shirt Caper was a deliberate act by his department in order to open up a cheap shot against this front-running conservative Harder challenger Ted Howze.

Political insiders in the area indicate that within hours people were calling around about the photo of the person arrested. It is also my opinion based on experience in campaigns that it could have been Josh Harder’s crew and ex-lobbyist/perennial candidate Marla Livengood’s crew shopping the cheat shot to media outlets.

This is where the Modesto Bee comes in. Despite the fact that the man arrested has no connection to that Republican campaign as reported by multiple outlets, the Modesto Bee had another agenda. See the Manteca paper here for an example of local media reports.

Most of the media reported incorrectly that the Howze campaign asked the Sheriff to alter the photo. This is a lie. The Howze campaign asked the Sheriff to use a mugshot since this was the only photo in that sting that wasn’t a mugshot. There is a big difference in semantics. The Howze campaign basically asked the Democrat Sheriff of San Joaquin County to be consistent. Good for them.

Due to the efforts of the Harder / Livengood team, it caused scrutiny of the Sheriff’s actions and forced the implementation of a new policy on booking photos. It also forced an apology from the Sheriff as well.

The Modesto Bee, clearly angered by the fact that they missed a chance to smear a conservative Republican wrote an editorial that may was well have been written by MSNBC or Pravda. Somehow, it was the Republican’s fault this douchebag acquired a campaign shirt and it was the ONLY photo of its kind shown out of 20 something – the exact goal of the Harder/Livengood campaign operatives and their #fakenews effort against the leading candidate. Where have we seen this before?

It is clear your intrepid blogger is going to have to watch the Modesto Bee as they have signaled early that they are the CNN of the Central Valley.
