Courtney LaPaul Williams. Yes – he is running for Governor, telling people to write him in… while fundraising. But Courtney LaPaul has a Major problem. He is ripping people off and is hiding the money. He is basically two months late on filing his campaign finance reports. This is a major no-no and is typically only done by candidates with stuff to hide.

In the land of political grifters, some fall harder than others. Take Major Williams for instance. He raised over $300k last year but has yet to now file a semi-annual report for the first half of 2021.  

Let’s look at the possible reasons why.

Why does he need these? No other candidate needs them. Could it be he’s financing a lifestyle he otherwise couldn’t afford unless he was campaigning for office? We call these types of people political grifters: living off their campaign contributions tax-free no less as campaigns don’t pay taxes. Wonder what the IRS and FTB would have to say about this?

Perhaps Courtney LaPaul is going to become a rapper again?

His campaign’s credit card processor, Anedot, terminated his account several weeks back. This isn’t something that’s done lightly. You really have to screw up for them to do this. Sometimes, it involves a lot of chargebacks\refunds which make the underwriters nervous. We won’t mention the other possibilities, but none are good. This is all speculation mind you but his credit card processing cancellation was a fact. He has a new processor that I’ve never heard of.

I’d bet this new processor was chosen because they don’t vet their customers.

A check of public records shows he’s been through two treasurers since he started his campaign. The First one was short lived and the other ended a a while ago. He’s now acting as his own treasurer. That sounds a lot like Bill Brough. I Wonder what sort of behavior ended that relationship? Usually, it’s because of questionable spending activity on the part of the candidate and treasurers have enough to worry about and don’t need a candidate going rouge on them. But, who knows for sure.

Meanwhile, he has yet to file his mid-year report. Not a good sign. If he’s really on his own now, he’s got to be flailing at this point.

Like we said, he has “major” problems. Pun intended.

Anyone with a brain that is following California Politics knows that Newsolini and his harlots in the state media have gone berserk. I am not a Larry Elder fan, but I have decided to lay off of Elder because even Joe Biden can see what the state media is trying to do in a desperate attempt to forestall the invetible.

I believe that Kevin Kiley should be the governor, not another damn celebrity.

Then there is the curious case of Kevin Faulconer. I had been tipped off last week that the consultants that stand to lose a ton of money if the recall carries and someone not named Kevin Faulconer succeeds on Question 2 hatched a new plan.

Remember, most of the CAGOP’s staff are Kevin Faulconer alumni. Most of Faulconer’s staff also worked for Meg Whitman in 2010 and had been operating that same playbook until the recall came along.

We’ve been blistering Faulconer, his staff and his lackeys at the CAGOP for months. They had it all planned out, right down to the millions in coordinated independent expenditures, the wholesale purchase of the CAGOP, a slew of legislative endorsements and of course the puppet-master himself Kevin McCarthy in his corner.

Their new plan? Tank the recall so that Kevin can position himself as the adult in the room for 2022. The first evidence of this out in the open was Faulconer’s TV ad during the Charger-abomination pre-season game.  The Ad looked like a standard Governor campaign ad and MADE NO MENTION OF VOTE YES ON RECALL.

A recent email from Top Faulconer booster and former CAGOP Chair Ron Nehring made no mention of Faulconer or the Recall. However, most of Nehring’s emails to date had been all about Faulconer. Quite the interesting changeup 3 weeks from election day.

Let’s take another look at the corruption that surrounds Kevin Faulconer.

There have been fewer questions about Faulconer’s dealings on the Kearny Mesa property though it has been hit with significant challenges. The city’s independent budget analyst noted in a February memo that, like other troubled city acquisitions, issues surfaced that “were not foreseen by staff or presented for consideration” when the City Council approved the lease.

Indeed, the city has made more than $3 million in rent payments on the so-called Othello property since the City Council gave the go-ahead on plans to use the industrial property as a maintenance yard for the city’s fire truck fleet in April 2017.  At the time, city officials estimated renovations would cost $6.5 million. They have later decided the price tag is closer to $14.8 million but have yet to start work on the property despite earlier hopes that construction might start this summer. The city moved some employees to the property, so it hasn’t sat idle, but it has yet to fulfill the purpose the city intended – and it’s unclear when exactly it might.

There is more than just 101 Ash St. Kevin Faulconer’s leadership in San Diego is suspect at best.

The 101 Ash investigation conducted by a San Francisco law firm emphasized the city’s failure to seek an independent assessment of the building’s true condition upfront, or to conduct its own formal inspection before the City Council approved a 20-year, $128 million lease-to-own deal. Doing so would have revealed a slew of needed repairs. Instead, Thompson dubbed the building in excellent condition in presentations to the City Council in fall 2016.

In 2018, city officials asked the City Council for another $30 million to accommodate more city staffers at a building already a year behind schedule. That same year, the Union-Tribune repeatedly highlighted the $18,000 a day the city was spending to lease a building it. The stories seemed to trigger panic at City Hall.

After the bad press, documents obtained by VOSD suggest renovations were rushed and mismanaged. As the work continued, asbestos repeatedly shook loose, triggering the attention of the San Diego County Air Pollution Control District.

City employees began moving into the building in December 2019 only to scramble to move out a month later after the county issued a notice of public nuisance. City workers haven’t returned, and a consultant this summer made an initial estimate that 101 Ash could need $115 million in repairs that could take up to four years to complete. In September, after an avalanche of legal claims and questions about the transaction, including millions of dollars in costs the city can’t fully account for, Faulconer decided to stop paying monthly rent on the building, a decision that Cisterra and investors in the lease are challenging. The city has also filed suit against Cisterra and lenders in hopes of confirming it doesn’t have to pay rent on a building it can’t use and has hinted it will battle contractors who worked on 101 Ash in court.
This is the kind of person that has many of the major  consultants in his pocket and who was to have been ceded the CAGOP on a silver platter.

In 2016 this is what Kevin Faulconer said to a San Diego TV station, ““I could never vote for Trump,” said Faulconer on Election Night. “His divisive rhetoric is unacceptable and I just could never support him.”

As for being a real Republican, his communications person said this, “After a KPBS profile of Faulconer’s background was published, Manolatos sent an email expressing his displeasure with it for linking Faulconer with the Republican Party.

“If you think Kevin is a conservative, toe-the-line Republican—and it appears you do based on the multiple GOP references and lack of balance—please show me the evidence,” he wrote.

… and insider political BS. My disdain for Kevin Faulconer is 100% because of the dishonest tactics executed by a small, shrinking coven of political consultants and so-called party leaders to whore out what was left of the CAGOP to Faulconer. This is an all-too-common practice and fortunately, the little people were able to stop it this time. I may have been open to considering Faulconer had the insider crap not been happening, despite how liberal the mask-loving, race-pandering, baby-killing Faulconer is.

So the solution is yet another celebrity. In this case, it is the admitted Libertarian Larry Elder. I had refrained from talking about his ex-girlfriend Alexandra Datig, who he was engaged to. Datig, for her part is the libertarian’s dream, a former prostitute (libertarians love them some narcotics and “victimless” vice) who blew the whistle on Heidi Fleiss.

I had been warned that Elder’s opposition research file was like three-mile-island. I have not been disappointed.

I am not being paid by Kiley or anyone else. IF you read this blog, you will know that Kiley and I are not close and we really don’t like each other that much. Doug Ose had a heart attack, John Cox does not pay his vendors, (but he did pay me) so this leaves Kiley as the best option not named establishment Kevin or Celebrity Johnny-Come-Lately.

What we know about Elder is that he did nothing to aid the recall and like Arnold years ago, swooped in on the backs of other people’s efforts to run in the recall election. That’s strike one.

What I know FIRSTHAND is that Elder DEMANDED the OCGOP, San Diego Recall Group (and a couple of other groups whose identities I will protect to keep them out of the field of fire) un-invited Kiley, Cox, Ose and the others. This means two things, Elder’s Campaign team are overcome with arrogance and cowardice. Elder is not ready for prime-time and his campaign think they would be elevating the others by having their celebrity on the same stage. That’s Strike Two.

We all know there have been a series of debates and Elder has ducked them all. That’s Strike Three.

Elder has not done a thing to help the Republican Party, register voters and the like. Worse, he’s paraded himself as a libertarian. Strike Four.

PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. — Alexandra Datig, the former fiancee and longtime radio producer for California GOP gubernatorial candidate Larry Elder, says she broke off an 18-month engagement with the conservative talk show host in 2015 after he waved a gun at her while high on marijuana.

Datig’s claim, which she regards as the culmination of a series of humiliating disputes that made her fearful for her safety and her ability to maintain her sobriety, comes as Elder has gained momentum in the recall to replace Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom, with many observers counting him as the likeliest GOP alternative should voters decide to replace the incumbent.

I am not surprised one bit. Typically, Celebrities are train-wrecks when you look below the surface.

In a strategy sparking growing concern among grassroots Republican activists, California gubernatorial candidate Larry Elder has not only rejected debates with his fellow GOP candidates, but also refuses to be on stage with them at Republican party events.

Elder didn’t appear at a Tuesday debate sponsored by the Sacramento Press Club, and plans to skip another debate Thursday sponsored by KRON and the San Francisco Chronicle.

Elder was a no-show to a Riverside County GOP recall event in July, a move that miffed many local Republican activists, party sources told POLITICO. After agreeing to attend, the talk show host demanded that Assemblyman Kevin Kiley, another candidate, be disinvited — a request denied by Riverside County Republicans.

The following month, Elder was invited to an Aug. 9 San Diego County grassroots recall event, and a separate Aug. 16 Orange County Republican party gathering. He accepted both invites, but again demanded that Assemblyman Kiley be taken off the program, officials said. In both cases, local party representatives granted his request.

With less than one month before the recall election of Gov. Gavin Newsom, Elder’s insistence to put himself at arm’s length from his fellow Republicans — both on the debate stage and on local stages — appears to be a first by a major candidate in state politics.

I am not surprised that the weak, spineless Fred Whitaker in Orange County would comply with the demands of Larry Elder. I am also not surprised that Don Dix in Riverside would stand up to Elder’s demand. Elder has distinguished himself as a coward, that despite his alleged stature within the conservative community that he is too much of a coward to mix it up with Kevin Kiley. I’d take the stage with Kiley any day of the week.

Real Republican activists that have not drank the celebrity kool-aid or allowed their geography to disregard Kevin Kiley are off-put by Elder. I’ve talked to a lot of them.

Then there is this video that some hard-headed Elder supporters with Cognitive Dissonance are attempting to downplay. He appears to be as high as a U2 and is talking about Snoop Dogg and smoking weed. You’d think that Elder’s crew would embrace and promote his libertarian values (screw anything, smoke anything, drink anything) to appeal to Gen Z voters and the marijuana generation?

Elder is rightly getting his teeth kicked in for this whole list of stuff and I am sure there is more coming. Oh, and how is Elder qualified to serve as governor? Anyone?

Should Elder win, he will be a black eye on the California Republican Brand and will likely be a 15-month wonder. I am not alone in this opinion, I know some Republicans voting against the recall because they believe that Elder is the prohibitive favorite should the Recall make it. Sad. Another Celebrity interloper.

The venerable old California Republican Assembly. They have long been known as the conscience of the California Republican Party.

Sometimes, such as their endorsement of the libertarian Larry Elder, they stray. It makes sense that a group like this would be populated with opinionated people who like to fight with each other a lot.

I’ve been told by more than one person that the CRA is gearing up for their latest donnybrook. Please stop. Having been in several CRA donnybrooks, I can still picture the dozens of good people run out the door by the fights. IT does not matter how right you think you are, the GOP is at 23% in California. Please try to resolve the differences without fratricide!

So, there are a group of CRA Units that disdain the new membership system and are fighting against it. Luddites have been a part of the CRA the entire time I have been familiar with the organization.

I’ve heard varied opinions about the effectiveness of Johnnie Morgan. Morgan got his start in CRA leadership because I recruited him to run against Bill Cardoza for National Committeeman and he beat Cardoza. The one thing I can say for certain, third terms in any office or organization are problematic.

Under Johnnie’s leadership the CRA appears to be growing again. They are a landing place for the remnants of Tea Party and Trump groups. IN Bakersfield, the once Mighty Bakersfield CRA unit is back with some 177 legitimate and real members.

Gone are the days of zombie paper units. (I fought those for years and it was a group of them that helped run me out of the CRA) For that alone, Johnnie deserves a medal.

The other thing that I find interesting is that people said to consist of John Paul White and someone who may or may not be Ben Chapman have been fighting against new CRA units in Orange County.

In Kern County, the allegedly conservative Shannon Grove has been fighting CRA’s resurgence in that area.

One of the best indicators an organization is moving is when there is active opposition, and this is a clear indicator that the CRA is on the right track.

So to the CRA – you have a good thing going, now deal with the drama internally and keep moving forward.

There is always a certain reticence to support a celebrity candidate. Jesse Ventura and Arnold were unmitigated disasters as Governors. Frankly, since Ronald Reagan there has not been a celebrity Governor that has been worth a damn.

You’ve had people like Heath Shuler and Fred Thompson who were in the federal government that were effective. However, being a legislator is very different than being an executive politician.

I’m a Libertarian, Dammit.

What does Larry Elder believe? We’ve heard his celebrity show for years – but even in the very short time he has been a candidate for governor, we’ve seen some Arnold-esque flip flops.

So does Larry Elder think Boys should use Girl’s restrooms or not?

What does being a libertarian actually mean to Larry Elder?

So did President Trump lose the election fair and square or not?

Elder has had to “clarify” several things he has said – a clear sign of a candidate who is in serious need of finishing and seasoning.

Elder has also been systematically demanding Republican Groups toss other candidates and give him sole billing. It worked on the SDGOP who kicked the other top GOP candidates out of a recent event in favor of Elder. This was also something that Arnold did.

I know Kevin Kiley. I know Doug Ose. This is why I endorsed them both. I know they both have experience and consistent records. I think I know Larry Elder – but the behavior of his campaign is giving me serious pause.

If Larry Elder serves only one purpose – killing off Kevin Faulconer that the establishment that attempted to shove him down our throats, I will give him due credit for that.

However, the price of killing Faulconer may be extreme to California. The legislature is going to close ranks and override his vetoes. None of his appointees will see the right time of day and my guess is he will be a 16 month disaster if elected.

One of the reasons for the California morass is indeed its’ culture, a culture that values appearances more than substance. (This is something I don’t miss now that I live in Nevada) In most states, Larry Elder would not be viable nor taken seriously. Even the ultra-conservative CRA, dominated by members from Southern California endorsed Larry Elder on the 5th ballot 105-51 (the 51 is the combined total of alternatives).

Watch his interviews, see how he struggles to answer basic questions about policy. It will remind you of Arnold in 2003. Let the buyer beware.

Some people see a savior. I see Arnold.
