First of all – we have to have Steve Cooley as Attorney General. The AG’s office has been used as a Left-Wing partisan hammer by both Bill Lockyer and Jerry Brown.

Steve Cooley also has a proven track record in LA County putting criminals in jail… Kamala Harris loves Cop-Killers.

Prop 8, Prop 187 and others have been allowed to die and the AG’s office has subverted the will of the people – most recently, Jerry Brown has obsessively used his power as AG to sue to stop development.

Which brings me to Meg Whitman.

She has done one key thing that Arnold never did – she has finally enumerated a fiscal plan with some details. I still have significant issues with Meg Whitman – but, she has real-world experience and that places her head and shoulders above anyone who has run for Governor since Bill Simon.

Jerry Brown will decimate what’s left of the state period. Chelene Nightengale can’t even balance her own checkbook or herself for that matter.

Abel Maldonado – he is not Gavin Newsome. Gavin Newsome is a liar, hypocrite and in the words of State Senator Elect Doug LaMalfa, “Evil”.

Damon Dunn – a compelling candidate who is talking openly about dealing with election fraud. Debra Bowen is bought and paid for by ACORN.

Tony Strickland for Controller – maybe for the first time in 30+ years we can have someone who is not a rubber stamp of the Democrat leadership who uses their office to exacerbate the year after year budget crisis.

Mimi Walters for Treasurer – see comments about Strickland

Mike Villines for Insurance Commissioner – if you want socialized insurance vote for Dave Jones. Jones also hates insurance agents, insurance companies and small businesses – he scored a perfect 0 from the NFIB and other groups. Villines is to the right of the current Insurance Commissioner Steve Poizner.

Doug LaMalfa for State Senate – he will score 100% from the CRA year after year. Need I write more?

Will the nominees for the GOP Inspire?

Eric Hogue spoke this morning about the diverse ticket for the California Republican Party.

Of the races I took interest in – only Two Bona-Fide Conservatives Won: Andy Pugno and Doug LaMalfa.

Meg Whitman admits she is a Moderate-Liberal.
Abel Maldonado, while Latino is quite Liberal.
Steve Cooley is regarded as a Moderate. (His staff and supporters would vehemently disagree)
Mimi Walters and Tony Strickland are regarded as “establishment”
Damon Dunn will get railed for not voting. (But he ran as a Conservative)

From a diversity standpoint – Three Women, one Latino, one Black and only two white male nominees of which:

Carly Fiorina is the only candidate in the lot that appears inspiring to the base. Can the ticket sell its’ diversity to overcome the “John McCain-itis” that struck the GOP base in 2008?

The Dems? They feature three liberal freaks from the Bay Area – at least the liberal Republicans we nominated are diverse.

Whitman vs Jerry Brown really looks like McCain vs Obama.

However, Meg Whitman’s team has it in their power to shape her image to get the job done – let’s hope they bring the GOP base with them while they do that…

Taxpayer Advocate. Actually, Senator/Taxpayer Advocate.

I should have put Blogger/Taxpayer Advocate on my Central Committee filing.

Well – Tom Harman for Attorney General got the beat-down and George Runner was allowed to keep his designation by a judge.

The Sacramento Bee made a strong case for Damon Dunn for Secretary of State – ripping Debra ACORN-Bowen for her lack of leadership over vapid and absurd ballot designations. There were a rash of lawsuits this year over said titles – thanks to Bowen doing nothing.

The Sacramento Bee – typical of them spent most of the article taking shots at Republicans, including a cheap-shot at “Small Business Owner” Ted Gaines. Gaines is my Assemblyman – who is also an insurance agent.

Sorry, but Gaines’ description is more accurate than Taxpayer Advocate… maybe Jon Coupal of Howard Jarvis could use that or Ted Costa…

The Barbara Alby campaign distributed a press release pointing out the absurdity:

The Sacramento Bee says “politicians are trying to game the system.”   CalNews calls it, “Feeding at the Public Trough.”

It was documented recently that Sen. George Runner developed a scheme to convince the Secretary of State and even a judge that he’s a taxpayer advocate as well as a full-time legislator.  The Sacramento Bee said “California’s secretary of state needs to stop the games by enforcing truth in advertising for how politicians identify themselves on official ballots.”   Maybe they should look at the latest evidence unveiled by CalNews in a piece written by Raoul Lowery Contreras.

Contreras criticized the Runners for “double-dipping,” both accepted per diem for living expenses. The current individual per diem rate is $141.86 per day, tax free if the member lives away from Sacramento.

“Republican California State Senator George Runner (Republican-17th District) and his wife, former elected Assembly woman Sharon Runner double-dipped over $200,000 just between 2005 and 2008 according to the California Assembly Rules Committee and the California State Senate Daily File.”

The Runners “presumably shared the same residence in Sacramento while in session, while they were collecting their tax free $283.72 per day, plus state supplied cars at $500 per month each. While they were collecting their double-dipped per diem payments and car allowances they cashed their salaries of $95,200 (before December, 2009, it was $116,000) each for total annual pay of $190,582.”

“Adding the Runners’ annual pay of $190,582 (it was higher — $232,000 – when Mrs. Runner served in the assembly) and their $283.72 daily “per diem,” Mr. and Mrs. Runner averaged over $300,000 a year between 2005 and 2008.”

Contreras called Runner’s actions of “double-dipping at the Public Trough” and the use of the ballot title taxpayer advocate as “disgraceful and dishonest” and “attempt to fool Republican voters.”

George Runner made himself vulnerable to this attack because he and his wife lived in the same house in Elk Grove and bought a second home in Tahoe during that period of time.

Perhaps married legislators will re-think their household budgets as this sort of boondoggle just looks really bad… especially when you’re on the ballot as a taxpayer advocate.

Sam Aanestad for Lt. Governor

Damon Dunn for Secretary of State

Ted Gaines for Assembly

Dan Logue for Assembly

Tom McClintock for Congress

The vote was 21-2 with only a procedural objection from one member and Roger Niello through his Ex-Officio objecting to Central Committees endorsing period.

Recently, the Yolo County Republican Central Committee suspended its’ by-laws to Endorse Assemblyman Jim Nielsen for re-election. Recently, the Yuba County Republican Central Committee ammended their by-laws and then endorsed Sam Aanestad for Lt. Governor as well.

The Press Releases will be going out today!

In a side note – the Placer County Republican Central Committee meeting was heavily attended by members of the local Tea Party Movement.
