In 2017 Adam Ellison was lining up to run for California Young Republican Federation President. I was roundly criticized by some for playing a part in helping Ross Sevy get elected CYRF President in that tilt. Ellison was not a leader. I also had questions about him on a personal level, but nothing too severe.
Then, in 2019 Adam Ellison did get elected CYRF President, but shortly thereafter ran out on his wife for a younger man. This also included Ellison resigning from the organization.
What follows is pretty disturbing:
The $50K numbers are bail numbers.
Quoting the article from the Nevada Union:
A South County man was arrested Wednesday morning on accusations he sexually assaulted another man, authorities say.
According to the Nevada County Sheriff’s Office, Adam Cooley Ellison, 35, is facing three felony charges after the male victim told deputies that Ellison had assaulted him without his consent while he was incapacitated. In addition to the charge related to the alleged act itself, Ellison faces two separate charges concerning sexual acts with a victim who is either too mentally unwell to give consent or is too intoxicated to do so.
Ellison, who was booked Wednesday into the Nevada County Jail on a $50,000 bond, made his bail and was released from custody later that afternoon, jail records show.
Ouch. This is the latest entry in my old adage about how politics attracts some profoundly screwed up people.
The below picture is from several years back. Ellison in in the Yellow shirt. There are dozens like these on the internet.
Just a week ago another Republican operative named Anton, “Tony” Lazzaro got arrested for Sex Trafficking. Since these things come in threes, I am holding my breath for the next one.
I met Lazzaro in the CRA a decade ago, even though he was about as liberal as they come for Republicans.
Word to the wise for people in politics, do your homework and always exercise caution. You never know who is next to you at an event or on the trail.
