Sloan needs help. He is right and everyone else is wrong don’t you know…

Dumpster Dan on the Dope Rhyme

If you received a copy of the Dan Sloan dossier in February when it was circulating, you were treated to his now ex-wife talking about his obsessive need to be right. She also talked about the myriad of abusive methods he employed. Fast forward to 2024, and it looks like Sloan has learned nothing.

Just this AM on the heels of losing a 16-2 Vote (the second time, mind you, the first was 15-5) he is still sending out emails as if he is still the Chair of the Shasta GOP.

The Shasta GOP met in the basement of the Methodist Church, a meeting Sloan claims is not valid. Let’s introduce Sloan (once again) to Robert’s Rules of Order…

50%+1 of a body can call a meeting any time, anywhere. Shasta GOP’s by-laws are silent on special meetings, thus Robert’s Rules applies. This is the second such time that the rank and file membership of the Shasta GOP have properly followed Robert’s Rules regarding expelling Sloan. But, don’t worry Sloan will go to his grave protesting how right he is and refusing to accept reality. He will continually come up with new reasons why he is right and everyone else is wrong.

My advice to the Shasta GOP is to take a 2/3 vote and expel him from the committee completely so you can move on with your business and cut him out of the communication loop. The local elections office will recognize the new officers as will the State GOP, anything else Sloan says is irrelevant.

Once again, a tip of the cap for the way Garrett Hall took his lumps and moved on. What a contrast.

Dumpster Dan Sloan, time to resign…

Your Intrepid Blogger is in receipt of a couple of emails written by now-former Shasta GOP 2nd Vice Chair Garrett Hall.

To my fellow Shasta County Republican Central Committee members,

It is with a heavy heart, that I tender my resignation as 2nd Vice Chair of the Shasta County Republican Central Committee effective immediately.

I have been on this committee the better part of a decade and had hoped the experience I have gained prior to joining the SCRCC with local grassroots groups, the 3 terms as a delegate to the CAGOP, making connections with delegates and committees from San Diego to the Oregan border and observing the nuances of the different disparate groups in the Republican party could be valuable.  I have tried to chart a path that keeps this Republican family together through difficult times while retaining my core conservative Christian beliefs.  It clear to me the majority of this committee believes I have failed at this task, and I cannot repair that perception at this time.

I intend to remain in the fight for conservative Republican values and will assume a back bench seat in our committee and maintain the other duties the committee sees fit to ask me to continue.

It has been an honor to serve as your 2nd Vice Chair and I hope that we can all chart a path forward together that saves our county, state and nation from the onslaught of woke, socialist ideologies that are destroying our society.

Now Compare Garrett’s Resignation to Dan Sloan’s threats of legal action and other threats. FYI, I reported the vote to oust Sloan previously as 15-3; it was 15-5, with 4 not voting.

Some ugly stuff about Dan Sloan came out in his campaign for Shasta County Supervisor. Beyond my belief that Sloan only ran for Chair of Shasta GOP to advance himself for a campaign he was planning, the stuff that came out depicted a man with an out-of-control temper, who is a bully and may have had a substance abuse issue. Divorce filings are often hyperbolic, so I am reticent about mentioning them on the pages of this blog. There were, however, other issues in addition to the dossier that was circulated that made the divorce filings ring true.

Garrett Hall appears to agree with your intrepid blogger in an open letter he sent aside from his resignation (emphasis added by your intrepid blogger):

Since November 2023 though, some of the concerns I raised about a year earlier about the disparate groups in the SCRCC and my concern that you may not be aware of all the different nuances of these groups started to cause friction.  You stood for election to a public office that most of us are not brave enough to do and those disparate groups started to do their digging and found some history that I know you would have preferred did not come out that way and that manner.  I always say there are at least 3 sides to a story, one person’s side, the other person’s side, and the truth. Early on I put full faith in you because I had gotten to know you and thought this just can’t be the Dan Sloan I know.  As time went on and our event preparation disagreements chaffed many, both inside and outside our committee, more and more voices started to point out to me the ways that the sensational aspects of those accusations may be valid as what I can only assume was the pressure of the overly delayed election results mounted.

This finally came to a head for me at our February 2024 meeting after our event where uncalled for snipping and accusations were flung from many sides.  I remember just dipping my head and thinking what have we come to, that we can tear into each other rather than focus on the opposition party that hurts our kids, our economy and our way of life.  We talked that night about how that could have been handled differently and I kept the faith that you could turn this around.  We worked to try to be prepared what appeared to be a very angry few that may try to tear the committee apart and brough some of those disparate groups together again.

That March meeting did not get better and the vague nature of the discussions about issues with the Treasury only riled members up more.  That night I started to lose faith and tried my hardest to start looking for the offramp that would not tear this committee apart.  Numerous discussions with many members about what to do next started.  This culminated for me in the Finance committee meeting at Simpson where the vague discussions about problems in the Treasury did not get any clearer and even got even more opaque and it seemed to antagonize everyone in the room.  One member and I stayed and discussed this in length after the meeting and we left thinking a change had to be made.  I thought I was making progress in trying to produce a way to keep the SCRCC together, but the April meeting proved otherwise.

Over 60% of the committee from disparate groups had come together and decided they had enough.  They used the bylaws correctly to start the process of removing the Chair.  There is valid debate that some other mistakes were made that evening, but the Officer removal process was correctly started.

Since that evening, I have had precious few meetings with members of our committee.  One meeting was with you to discuss what you saw the end of this chapter to be, and we discussed looking to the future, letting this process come to its natural conclusion with as little damage done as possible while you still maintained your record of events.  Since that evening your assurances to me that this would be the path has not come to pass.  Further uncalled for antagonism and nitpicking of the forgivable mistakes of our 1st Vice Chair in trying to carry out her agreed upon duty from the April meeting only sent things down an even more dark path.

This brings me today when it appears that you have sabotaged the efforts of the committee majority to follow the bylaws and tainted the reputation of the SCRCC with a well-respected church in our community.  They have since requested that we not meet in their facility causing the notices that have been sent to all members following the bylaws to now be invalid.

The time has now come to close this chapter and begin again on a new path.  To that end, I am joining the chorus of voices from elected officials to members of our committee and community to please just stop; do what’s best for the SCRCC and resign immediately from the Chairmanship of the SCRCC before this goes any further.  The SCRCC reputation is already damaged by this mellow drama.  Please let us go into the convention this weekend having moved forward and preparing to the biggest election of our lifetimes and likely future of our great country.

Sloan’s rampage has gotten so out of control that the Shasta GOP lost their venue for meeting. Garrett Hall, once Sloan’s biggest Ally has fallen on his sword and is now rightly joining the others calling for Sloan to simply leave. Amazing.

P.S. Shasta County has a horrendous Crime Rate and a lot of systemic problems to address. This drama on the Shasta GOP is an even bigger disaster in light of that.

By now, you’ve been treated to emails calling Tim O’Reilly and everything under the sun. I stand behind my criticism of his by-law amendments. That said, those criticizing him are lying about the Keith Cascio situation.

Steve Frank has had a copy of the three-page letter sent to him by Tim O’Reilly when the extremely dense Cascio demanded to know why he was facing removal as Treasurer. Suffice to say, the list is damming and 100% true.

Steve Frank owes us all an apology for turning Cascio into a victim and for lying by omission about the state of affairs in Los Angeles County.

When you read the letter, posted in its’ entirety – remind yourself that Steve Frank has had this at least a week longer than your intrepid blogger and did NOTHING with it even though it would have provided much-needed context surrounding the bizarre actions of a man who appears to be disturbed (in this case I am referring to Keith Cascio and not Mr. Frank). This breach of journalistic ethics is what you expect from CNN, not a respected conservative leader. But when have ethics ever gotten between Steve Frank and a good smear?

Now, ask yourself why Steve Frank refused to publish this?

Ask yourself who the actual victim is here?

In the words of Tim O’Reilly: “Your decisions have been confusing to myself and your colleagues on the board…”, in the case of Steve Frank his decision in not confusing at all. His decision to not post this stuff shows you what he is willing to abrogate to win a political fight.

Pictured, Luis Buhler a political leader in the Bay Area speaking next to the bust of L Ron Hubbard. The location is the Church of Scientology in San Jose

I have no idea what the hell Shane Patrick Connelly and the crew out in San Jose were thinking but they are now hosting their meetings at the Church of Scientology.

There are two simple issues here. There are plenty of places where someone could meet for free.

The Church of Scientology is one of the allegedly worst cults in America. Google people who survived and escaped scientology.

As an Evangelical Christian, I would feel that Shane and crew did this in order to dissuade me from participating in meetings. I would never set foot in a Church of Scientology unless I was law enforcement arresting someone.

Similar to Tim O’Reilly’s By-Law gaffe, this is an unforced error. Please, Shane and crew change your meeting location!!!

I had a letter sent to me multiple times, but I am going to quote a part of it:

The other interesting finding it that the Democrats are still meeting at the county for free. I had a friend call the Democrat party to ask where their next meeting would be and it is also posted on their website, that they are still meeting at county facilities. The Dems did not lose their meeting space. I filed a Public Records Request with the County to find out who is allowed to meet for free and have been communicating with the county about their policies. It turns out that if you meet at the same time a county group is meeting, you can piggy back off of their security and not have to pay any fees. This means that we would have to change the day of our monthly meetings if we want out old meeting space back as no county groups meet the second Wednesday of the month.

It seems so simple.

Steve Frank posted some more stuff about the LAGOP. Some of it is deceptive and false. Given that Mr. Frank is attempting to lead the conservative opposition out of the morass in the CAGOP, objectivity and accuracy are paramount. Allow your intrepid blogger to help.

LAGOP Chair Tim O’Reilly Allows NON Republican to VOTE on Central Committee

As far as I can tell only one California GOP organization allows a NON REPUBLICAN a vote in its Committee.  LAGOP Chair Tim O’Reilly told folks that Nathan Hochman, an NPP, is STILL an Ex Officio of the LA Committee.  His reasoning is that Hochman was the GOP nominee for AG in 2022, hence is an ex officio, regardless of his current status.

Yet, on Monday night Hochman proudly stated he was voting for Biden against Trump.  He never answered the question if he was also voting for Schiff against Garvey.  He did not mention a single Republican he was supporting for office.

O’Reilly would not allow the LAGOP members to ask questions of Hochman.  Instead he had one member ask pre-determined questions.  Folks had to shout out questions to Hochman or demand he answer questions one on one—but not during the meeting.  Oh, again the LAGOP did not have a quorum to do all its business.  Of course, under these circumstances, why waste the time?

Rounding off the numbers, O’Reilly finally admitted the Committee had $18,000 in the bank—and still owed one person $16,000.  It is so bad that at the end of June the LAGOP is closing its San Fernando Valley HQ and moving into a joint center in Long Beach—the very south end of a county that is bordered on the north by Lancaster—80 miles away.  He did announce how much two of the recent fund raisers made—but REFUSED to tell how much two others lost.

Remember it was O’Reilly that tried to pass a Democrat Lite Platform for the CAGOP.  He also stopped the LAGOP from endorsing a Republican for DA—since he was supporting a Non Republican, Nathan Hochman.  Now he is working hard to close the CAGOP by CUTTING 16% of the delegates to the CAGOP—while the Democrats continue to increase their numbers (currently the CAGP has 1440 members and the Democrats State Party has over 3200).  At every turn O’Reilly is working hard to demolish the California GOP, its credibility and its volunteers.

#1. Hochman, his Ex-Officio spot became vacant when he left the GOP. I have checked and Hochman has not voted on anything. IF Tim O’Reilly actually said Hochman is still an ex-officio, he was wrong, but the hyperbole about Hochman still voting on the LAGOP is untrue.

#2. Lack of Quorum, was this because of a boycott led by Steve Frank and David Hernandez? There is always more to a story.

#3. Why is Steve Frank protecting Keith Cascio. No one knows the real financial numbers because Cascio refused to do his job and went berserk when people asked him simple questions. That should have been the story. Instead, Frank spun this as O’Reilly being dishonest. This is a terrible abortion of journalism and a complete cheap shot.

#3A. Moving the HQ, the part Steve deliberately omitted is that the LAGOP had donated (or heavily subsidized) office space for years by Andy Garakhani and others, this is well-known all over. With Andy withdrawing from the CAGOP political scene it makes sense that this arrangement goes by the boards. This was spun as some sort of failure by Tim O’Reilly, that is a deceptive lie.

#4. Platform, O’Reilly was wrong to support the garbage platform. The Republican DA candidate was a complete disaster and would have gotten steamrolled by Gascon! It was correct to stay silent when your candidate is a disaster, but the implication of Steve’s post is that O’Reilly was in the bag for Hochman and made sure the Republican candidate got screwed over. That idiot did not need Tim’s help.  Lastly, regarding the by-law amendments, O’Reilly deserves all the criticism over those.

Time and time again, the legitimate criticisms that Steve Frank makes against Establishment people get lost and muted in a hail of half-truths, cherry-picked facts and/or outright lies. If Frank and crew want to have a legitimate chance of ousting the establishment at next March’s convention there needs to be a strict adherence to facts and not the grifter-style clickbait.
