The Price of Regular Gasoline in Bryno’s Hometown. Thanks Bryno!!!

In what has to be one of the dumbest statements ever by an officeholder, Bryan Maryott on 10-21-2021 sealed his doom.

Several area Republicans also have come out in support of a ban on offshore drilling, including Assemblywoman Janet Nguyen of Fountain Valley and Brian Maryott of San Juan Capistrano, who’s running to unseat Levin in the 49th Congressional District.

“We simply do not need that capacity and likely never will,” Maryott said.
OC Register, October 21, 2021

The nuance here is not whether you are opposed to offshore drilling in the 49th congressional district. It’s the fundamental flaw in making a blanket suggestion that we don’t ever need more capacity to increase supply and reduce price. Mr. Maryott’s economics are flawed. Did he not go take economics 101? Or did he just stay at a Maryott Inn Express last night?

There are other places in the country where we can drill and increase capacity. But the fact is Maryott made a blanket statement that we don’t need the capacity at a time when gas prices are extremely high and the supply chain is constrained. This is the position of a Democrat and a Candidate who flunked economics.

One Response to “#CA49 Update: Bryan Maryott Comments on Offshore Drilling, Campaign Ending Stupidity”

  1. CA legislators refuse to be education on how safe our offshore wells are. Many went crazy over the Horizon accident. They didn’t even know our offshore platforms are stationary- not floating platforms. And then the frenzy over fracking – Skinner and Pavely were like screaming harpys on the issue. Just couldn’t understand fracking in CA is not the same as what was being done in the East. Fracking has been done in CA for many years. As for their claim the chemicals used in fracking could contaminated our aquifers – all of our wells are required to be cased. If they weren’t, the oil would be just as nasty a contaminant as any chemicals used in fracking – duh…
