#CA45 Update: Why Did The OCGOP Leadership Have a Conference Call With Greg Raths?

Every election cycle, I see something new. This particular cycle with the advent of “Make America Great Again” and everything else that has occurred to give that credence, incumbents are sweating bullets.

As I have written so many times before, I have had a front row seat to the conflict avoidance that has plagued GOP leadership. It is so endemic that it has defined a generation of GOP leaders.

So, it came as no surprise to me that they arranged a private conference call with Greg Raths, instead of taking him on publicly. I am still unsure why Greg Raths went on this call as I’d have bet him his entire military pension that Mimi Walters would get endorsed unanimously. Those that reached out to Raths claimed that the call was for the purpose of determining who they were going to endorse in CA45.

The call involved a few names Mr. Raths remembered, notably Fred Whitaker (the allegedly unbiased OC GOP Chairman who stood in for Mimi Walters who was not on the call). That is correct, this conference call with roughly 25 GOP leaders was skipped by Congresswoman Mimi Walters.

The fix was in.

That said, they attempted to use this forum to determine what Raths’ strategy was to be against Mimi Walters. Greg Raths, a retired Colonel from the Marine Corps talked a lot about veterans issues. Within minutes of the conclusion of the conference call, Mimi Walters had added a page to her campaign website about veterans issues in an attempt to gain superiority over a Retired Marine Corps Colonel.

A nugget of particular interest from said call was one Fred Whitaker talking about how much money Mimi Walters had raised for GOP candidates in the past as one of her selling points!!!

For those of you with painfully short memories, when Don Wagner was vetting a run against John Moorlach, he rightly castigated Senator Moorlach for REFUSING to help other Republicans. Scott Baugh (and Whitaker for that matter) made it clear that Wagner’s over $300,000 raised and given to other Republicans was irrelevant!

Now that we clearly have the OC GOP leadership in a bear-trap of hypocricy, I can rightly say that the fealty to the status quo is going to turn Orange County Blue. This is the kind of equivocation and two-faced double-speak I have become accustomed to in 18 years of being active in politics.

I do believe that this meeting was borne out of paranoia as well. The entire political establishment regardless of party knows that incumbents can be beaten. The prospect of seeing that precedent has everyone in office bearing their fangs. It is not about Mimi Walters, John Moorlach or (fill in the name of target here), it is indeed about themselves and their next paycheck. Values be dammed.

We wrote about the scandal surrounding Mimi Walter’s retread Chief of Staff who was indicted on 8 felony counts. This overreaction to Greg Raths and seeing a group of people like the crew assembled on the call and the amount of planning for such a ruse is a pretty extreme one at that. The indictment of a staffer for actions well before his current employment is good fodder for a piece of mail and a news story, but it is hardly fatal to a campaign…

… but the extreme fear in the OC GOP establishment sincerely makes me wonder what the heck else is lurking out there about the Freshman Congresswoman.

#AD06 EPICFAIL Update

CRISTI EPIC FAILAs Cristi Beckstead-Nelson and Kevin Kiley are preparing to attack their opponents with negative mail, their recent #EPICFAIL’s tell us a possible reason why they are getting to the attack stage as they are starting to address the brutal reality that they are losing traction. (or, never had it)

Beckstead-Nelson has an event that actually has a host committee with more than 4 people on it. (In this case, it is 8) It features another politician on tilt, Ted Gaines at the lead. As you recall, Cristi Beckstead-Nelson donated $2500 to Ted Gaines on 10/6/2015 and then Ted Gaines endorsed on 10/13/2015. I also take note of the wine glasses…

Take a closer look. This is slightly better than the triple 0 precinct walk “event” from last week. This event has no confirmed participants but does have three “interests”. Wait, I thought Cristi Beckstead-Nelson had more FB likes than any of her opponents? When you buy likes, you don’t get real people. #EPICFAIL.

Kiley Wilson ScreenshotNot to be outdone, Trial Lawyer and former far-left liberal democrat Kamala Harris employee Kevin Kiley took a break from pandering to bay area liberals to roll out the Pete Wilson endorsement. Perhaps the former governor was impressed by Kiley attacking Andy Pugno for writing Prop 8 at that event?

My intel shows clearly that young Mr. Kiley is preparing to attack Bill Halldin and Andy Pugno. This is normal stuff in political races and is the only hope the 31 year old single never-married socially liberal Kiley has of trying to slip in to the fall runoff.

The former governor was no conservative himself. In fact, his name is still a net negative around here. I mention this as I am betting that Mr Kiley’s campaign handlers make sparse use of this endorsement as it basically represents a public coming out as a liberal. (both Kiley and Nelson liberally refer to themselves as Conservatives despite their own word and deed)

The #EPICFAIL part of this is the picture young Mr. Kiley selected of Mr. Wilson. Kiley was in kindergarten when this picture was taken. This kind of pours Miracle Grow on Kiley’s primary weakness. (well one of them, anyway)

For those of you scoring at home, that would be that he is 31, single never married and has had three jobs in the 4 years he has been out of law school. You’d think that with a resume thinner than Cristi Nelson / Beth Gaines that young Mr. Kiley would not want to amplify that.

Yes, folks #AD06 is going to be a mess… and your mailboxes are going to start detonating very soon.

Please note: I have endorsed Duf Sundheim for US Senate for a variety of reasons. If you want a viable GOP Candidate for Senate, he is our best shot. That was my calculation first and foremost. Secondly is character. Of the funded GOP candidates, Duf wins this race hands down.

A Quick Update from the Campaign Front

We are very excited about where we stand and I wanted to give you a quick update. I am more convinced than ever we’re well positioned to make it into the top two and appear on the November ballot.

Here’s why:

According to the LA Times, we are within 7% of Loretta Sanchez
According to the Field poll, the current leader in the race is not Kamala Harris, but “Undecided”

Close to 50% of the voters are undecided and a significant majority of those voters anticipate they will vote Republican

We are the only Republican being polled whose statement will appear in the pamphlet delivered by the Secretary of State to every voter in the State of California
Nationally, turnout among voters who align with our positions is through the roof and those that favor our opponents is through the floor.  That is critically important in a top-two system.

Between now and Election Day, we plan to send you updates on  our campaign, where we stand on the issues and hopefully share a smile or two.

CA45 Update: Scandal Hits Congresswoman Mimi Walters’ Office Just In Time for June Election

The Department of Justice on Wednesday indicted the former chief of staff to then-U.S. Rep. Paul Broun in connection with misusing taxpayer money to finance campaign activities and obstructing a congressional investigation into the matter.

The eight-count indictment charges David Bowser, Broun’s longtime top staffer, with one count of obstruction of proceedings, one count theft of government property, one count of concealment of material facts and five counts of making false statements.

Bowser’s arraignment and initial appearance have yet to be scheduled. The Justice Department said the FBI is investigating the case.

Bowser, now the chief of staff to U.S. Rep. Mimi Walters, R-Calif., did not respond to requests for comment.

Some on the right will decry how Hillary Clinton has not been indicted yet. However, such does not give Mr. Bowser a free pass. An indictment means they believe there is enough evidence to convict Mr. Bowser on one or more counts.

Mimi Walters now has a five-alarm problem. Walters decided to hire staff from the same cesspool that so many others pull from. She is a freshman Congress-Member who ironically replaced Congressman John Campbell who retired because he grew to despise Washington D.C.

While Bowser has now resigned, the issues are multiple. Who the heck vetted this guy? Does anyone believe that the Congress-Woman did not know that this investigation was going on?

At best, this was careless. At worst this is a scandal whose tentacles will suck many in to the vortex.

Bowser was Mimi Walter’s Chief of Staff and he is now indicted on 8 criminal counts by a grand jury. This is scary.

Given the way Walters has been reacting to the primary challenge by Greg Raths, I am wondering what else is lurking in the closet?

Victor Bekhet: Standing in a Vat of Gasoline Threatening People With Matches

First off, I’d like to thank Victor Bekhet for bringing attention to www.victorbekhet.com. The number of unique visitors has shot up 10 fold since the story on KCRA Channel 3!

I was interviewed for 12 minutes while I was out on business yesterday afternoon and I did appreciate the professionalism of the reporter.

Victor Bekhet has multiple problems that apparently he wanted more people to know about, a suspended LLC, a suspended securities license, the fact that he got his very own zoning variance to develop his own property + a $20k break on sewer fees and of course his bay area addresses complete with democrat voter registration history.

However, like any media outlet, they had to work the race card in to the story. De vez en cuando, es mas mejor que hacer una cuenta sobre los razones en contra de su nacionalidad.

The story made me think I must confess, that I must be a bilingual racist myself. Maybe I should go see Pope Shenodua for an indulgence.

Yes – thank you Channel 3 for the publicity for this blog no one reads (but everyone seems to know what’s on) and for a well-done story.

Victor and his friends that helped him get Channel 3’s attention thought they were on to something, however this is Victor Bekhet they were working with.

Now – back to our regularly scheduled expose’s of Mr. Bekhet. Now that Bekhet is out there ablaze, I am wondering what else is hiding in his closet.
